December 03, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Glary Power Technology (Taichung, Taiwan) announced its new CPQ48S050-50 5V/50A quarter-brick, dc/dc module, which is designed as a bus converter to provide a tightly regulated 5.0V output for intermediate bus architecture (IBA) across a 36V to 75V range input powering multiple low-cost, non-isolated, point-of-load regulators with a high density of 214W/in³ and a high conversion efficiency of 91 percent at 5.0V/50A.

The new converter is suitable for telecommunications, computer servers, enterprise networking equipment and other applications that use a 48V input. The CPQ48S050-50 features a 5V output; a separated powertrain mounted on a metal core PCB; a –40 to +110 degrees C base temperature range; a low profile of 0.35in (9.0mm); a 2.0kVdc isolation rating between primary to secondary; an output-voltage trim facility between 90 and 110 percent of nominal; over-voltage and over-temperature protection; input under-voltage lockout; and international safety compliance, including EN60950 and CSA/UL60950.

The CPQ48S050-50 is available now and is priced at $100 for quantities of 1,000.
