Fox Electronics Expands FQ Series Packaging Technology
Fox Electronics (Fort Myers, FL) expanded its FQ Series of all-quartz crystal packaging technology to include a 5.0 mm x 3.2 mm package size. The FQ5032, which boasts a low profile of 0.8 mm, is suitable for a wide range of portable applications, including hand-held devices such as such as PDAs, MP3s, scanners and GPSs.
The new packaging technology provides a cost reduction of up to 20% or more over conventional ceramic packaging, as well as eliminate the recurring problems of ceramic shortages. The new crystal packaging yields costs savings of 15% in quantities of 10,000 to 20,000, and savings of 20% in quantities of 50,000 and above. In addition, compared to ceramic packaging, the FQ Series offers a lighter weight and a lower profile.
The FQ5032 is available in frequencies from 12 MHz to 50 MHz, with a ±30 ppm tolerance at 25 °C. Standard stability is ±30 ppm at temperatures from 0 °C to 70 °C. Extended temperature versions for use from -40 °C to +85 °C are also available.
Pricing for the FQ5032 crystal packaging with a frequency of 20 MHz is $0.25 each in quantities of 50,000. Delivery is six to eight weeks ARO.
