FDK Launches W Series POL DC/DC Converters

October 13, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

FDK Corp. (Japan) announced the launch of its new non-isolated, point-of-load (POL), dc/dc converters, the W Series, which feature an electric power efficiency of up to 95% at the maximum as a high-efficiency POL power supply that responds to decentralization of electric equipment. The series comprises 72 models with a lineup of single in-line (SIP) and surface mount technology (SMT) packages, which are targeted toward various power supply systems, such as servers, desktop PCs and communication apparatuses.

By utilizing original electronic material technology, computer aided engineering technology and fine printing technology, the multi-layer power inductor that makes up the heart of the converter has attained a high level of power efficiency and an output current of up to 20A.

The W Series in the SIP packaging is scheduled for delivery in December 2003, and the SMT packaging is scheduled for delivery in November 2003. The sample price is $15 for the 5A parts, $23 for the 10A parts, $27 for the 15A parts, and $30 for the 20A parts. The products will be exhibited beginning October 7, 2003.
