Fast and Semi-Fast Thyristor Family

IXYS Corporation has expanded of its Fast and Semi-Fast portfolio for thyristor products. Standard thyristors for main ac line supply applications running at 50/60 Hz are widely utilized for rectifying and control solutions and are available in many circuit combinations and package styles. For higher frequency applications that have to rely on thyristor technology, there is a growing demand for thyristors with fast or semi-fast turn-on and low reverse recovery performance.

To address this market need, IXYS has offered and is now expanding its Fast and Semi-Fast Thyristor product line to provide an adequate product range that covers the demand for higher performance in the reverse recovery behavior.

“Turn-off times (tq) clearly below 100 microseconds underline the capabilities of the IXYS’ Fast and Semi-Fast Thyristors while maintaining excellent performance in terms of low forward drop voltages, low leakage currents and power density,” states Dr Elmar Wisotzki, Director of Technology for IXYS Germany. “These Fast- and Semi-Fast Thyristors provide higher reliability and field proven ruggedness in their surge current capability, with junction temperatures up to 150 degrees C.”

With the growing demand in this special section of faster rectifying applications, IXYS will further develop its portfolio in the future to cover the needs of the customers providing stable, energy efficient and reliable devices.
