Fairchild Semiconductor Unveils FRFET Family of 500V MOSFETs
Fairchild Semiconductor (San Jose, CA) unveiled a new family of 500V, fast-recovery MOSFETs designed to enhance performance in telecommunications and server power system designs. Fairchild claims that compared to conventional MOSFETs, the new FRFETs demonstrate over 50-percent improvement in diode reverse-recovery characteristics as well as increased turn-off dv/dt immunity.
The company maintains that the FRFET’s soft-recovery characteristics result in lower system power losses, improved ruggedness and higher operating frequencies. The FRFET family is available with current ratings of 24A and 28A in the TO-3P package, and 40A in the TO-264 package. Both 42A and 50A versions are planned for later introduction.
Pricing for the FRFETs starts at $4.00 for the FQA24N50F in 1,000-piece quantities. The FQA28N50F is priced at $4.50 and the FQL40N50F at $6.00 in the same quantities. Samples and production quantities are available now. Delivery is in seven to eight weeks ARO.
