Fairchild Semiconductor Intros FMS6143/6145/6146 Drivers

November 29, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Fairchild Semiconductor International Inc. (South Portland, ME) announced a new family of integrated filter/drivers, the FMS6143, FMS6145 and FMS6146, which feature fully integrated functionality and offer an active approach that decreases test and design time, reduces inventory, and increases image quality in DVD, LCD, TV, set-top box and other digital consumer products.

The three-channel, five-channel and six-channel, fourth-order filter/drivers improve quality when used to replace discrete products in traditional third-order passive solutions. By providing 8 MHz cut-off frequency and 48 dB stopband attenuation, the devices meet standard definition requirements. Internal diode clamps and bias circuitry enable the filter/drivers to accommodate ac-coupled or dc-coupled input signals. The outputs on each device can drive ac-coupled or dc-coupled, single (150 Ω) or dual (75 Ω) coaxial cable loads, eliminating the need for expensive output coupling capacitors and reducing design cost.

The FMS6143, FMS6145 and FMS6146 are available in SOIC and TSSOP packages. The products are lead-free and meet the requirements of the joint IPC/JEDEC standard J-STD-020B, and are compliant with the European Union requirements that will take effect in 2005.

The new FMS6143 in a three-channel, SOIC is priced at $0.50; the FMS6145 in a five-channel, TSSOP is priced at $0.68; and the FMS6146 in a six-channel, TSSOP is priced at $0.76, all in 1,000-unit quantities. Available now, delivery is four weeks ARO.
