EnerSys Introduces High-Speed Chargers in Paris

March 30, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

AccelRate Power Systems announced that its licensing partner, EnerSys, has introduced and exhibited industrial battery chargers incorporating AccelRate technology to European customers at MANUTENTION PARIS, a large exhibition dedicated to materials handling equipment in Europe.

EnerSys has licensed AccelRate's patented "High-Speed" battery charging technology for the motive and reserve power markets in Europe. Chargers incorporating AccelRate technology will be sold in Europe through EnerSys' subsidiary brands including Hawker, Fiamm and Oldham. Hawker Powersource, a North American division of EnerSys, has signed a licensing and manufacturing agreement for the production and distribution of battery chargers incorporating AccelRate technology in North America. In addition, AccelRate is marketing its own brand of AccelRate® SC Chargers, manufactured by Hawker, to aftermarket users in North America.

"The European trade show was a fantastic opportunity for EnerSys and Hawker to introduce the unique capabilities of AccelRate High-Speed technology to the European market," stated Pierre Gadbois, President of the Motive Power Division of AccelRate Power Systems. "EnerSys and Hawker management are extremely pleased with the high level of interest from European customers, and as a result, EnerSys has appointed specialized sales staff to market the most advanced industrial "High-Speed" battery charger prior to its anticipated European sales launch in the summer of 2006."

Industrial chargers incorporating AccelRate technology enable industrial users to charge their batteries to a "full" state-of-charge in 80% less time than conventional chargers with no requisite cool-down period. By reducing heat generation during the charge profile and eliminating battery-swaps during operation, companies can reduce their expenditures through reduced capital investments and improved operator time usage.
