EIG Launches Nexus 1252 Power Quality Meter

August 11, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Electro Industries/GaugeTech (EIG, Westbury, NY), a leader in web-accessed power monitoring, introduced the Nexus 1252 performance-enhanced, energy and power quality meter. The latest in the Nexus Series, the unit provides advanced and new functionality, including EN50160 flicker and compliance monitoring; inter-harmonic analysis; DNP 3.0 level 2 plus protocol; turbo downloads; customized modbus mappings; and multiple programmable modbus formats.

Compliant with EN50160 international standards, the 1252 enables users to perform flicker analysis. The Nexus 1252 provides logging and monitoring for instantaneous short-term (PST 10-minute) and long-term (PLT 4-hour) evaluation. Additionally, a comprehensive power quality analysis may be conducted by viewing inter-harmonics - the further frequencies between the harmonics of the power frequency voltage and current, which are not integers between the fundamental.

Incorporating an advanced DNP 3.0 protocol, the Nexus 1252 complies with all DNP Level 1 and Level 2 certification requirements, and features mapping of up to 136 measurements to DNP static points;

up to 16 relays and 8 resets controlled through DNP; flexible combinations of four events for up to 250 events; and freeze commands. Standard advanced features include high-performance power quality monitoring, high-speed transient recording, 512 samples-per-cycle recording, voltage surge and sag recording, EN50160 flicker and compliance monitoring, fault recording and analysis, harmonic analysis to 255th order, inter-harmonic analysis, and onboard CBEMA logging.
