Digital Power Corp. Announces 2,500W High Density Front-End Rectifier
Digital Power Corp. announced its next generation power solution, the PS-2548. This modular, high-density front-end rectifier is designed for network and datacom applications that require high power distribution and reduced cost of ownership from a compact and efficient power source.
With the PS-2548, Digital Power states that it offers significant enhancements in power density, power monitoring, efficiency, and configurability. The PS-2548 is hot swappable, produces up to 2,500 W in a 1U (1.61 inch) enclosure, and provides a power density of 25W/in³ with an output voltage range of 48-55 Vdc. Standby output is 11.6 – 12.5Vdc /0.3 A. The unit includes a universal 90 – 254Vac input with a minimum power factor greater than 0.98. Other key features include active load sharing and ORing protection circuitry, which provide N+N redundant operation, and a class-A EMI input filter.
A front-end I2C communications bus provides power good, output current, output voltage, internal temperature and fault reporting. Dual notice visual and audible alarms provide status and fault information that is easy to identify in any environment.
Three PS-2548 units can be operated in a single 19 inch, 1RU power shelf to deliver up to 7,500 W. Up to 10 power modules can be connected in a 1+N configuration to generate up to 25,000 W of distributed power.
The PS-2548 features a wide operating temperature range of -20 to +50°C and includes integral variable speed cooling fans on each power module. Its form factor is a compact 11.29 x 5.00 x 1.61 inches. The unit meets all relevant safety standards, including UL60950-1, EN60950-1, and CE Marking (LVD).
