DATEL Presents New UHE Series of DC/DC Converters
DATEL Inc. (Mansfield, MA) announced its new UHE Series of 12W to 30W (2A to 10A), single-output, isolated dc/dc converters. Housed in traditional, low-cost, plastic packages (1.6in x 2in x 0.40in), the UHEs are smaller than half and quarter bricks, and there is no need for the heatsinking aluminum base plates common to most bricks.
The 30W/10A package (3.2sqin) is also smaller than the 2in x 2in package traditionally associated with currents in the 4A to 5A range and power in the 20W to 25W range. Models are up to 84 percent efficient while delivering a full 10A (1.2Vout to 2.5Vout models) and up to 92 percent efficient while delivering a full 25W to 30W (3.3Vout to 15Vout models). Less heat dissipation makes possible the smaller 1.6in x 2in package whose aspect ratio permits the standard 2in x 2in pinout. It also enables many UHE models to deliver full power from –40 to +60 degrees C (ambient) without heat sinks or supplemental air flow.
Output voltages are 1.2V, 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V, 5V, 12V or 15V. Input voltage ranges are 10V to 18V (D12 models), 10V to 36V (Q12 models), 18V to 36V (D24 models), 18V to 75V (Q48 models), or 36V to 75V (D48 models). All models are fully isolated (1,500Vdc), line/load regulated (±0.2 percent maximum and ±0.5 percent maximum, respectively), and fully I/O protected. All feature input pi filters, input under-voltage and over-voltage lockout, input reverse-polarity protection, output over-voltage protection, output current limiting, continuous short-circuit protection, and thermal shutdown.
Each model in the UHE 12W to 30W Series has a Vout trim pin and an on/off control function (with optional positive or negative polarity). Additionally, the high-current/low-voltage models (1.2Vout to 5Vout at 5A to 10A) can be ordered with output ±sense pins. The UHE Series are packaged in low-cost, lightweight, diallyl-phthalate (UL94V-0 rated) plastic packages with stand offs. All models are certified to IEC950, UL60950 and EN60950 safety requirements for BASIC insulation.D48 and Q48 models are CE marked.
The UHE 12W to 30W dc/dc converters are priced at $59 each in singles and $39
each for 1,000 pieces. Additional high-quantity discounts are available for OEM customers. Production quantities require six to eight weeks.
