Datel Announces USN Series D5 Converters

New Products Apr 29, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Datel Inc. (Mansfield, MA) announced the new USN Series D5 converters. The new devices are 8A and 10A SIP non-isolated dc/dc converters. The devices accept a 4V input and deliver 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V or 3.3V outputs at either 8 or 10A. The converters measure 2" x 0.53" x 0.4" and occupy 0.8 square inches of board space.

Datel's USNs use a 200kHz, fully synchronous, buck topology. The company claims that they have up to 91 percent efficiency. The devices feature under-voltage shutdown, output over-current detection and continuous short-circuit protection. In addition, the converters have a wide-range output-voltage trim function, a remote on/off control pin, and an optional sense pin. A power-good function can also be added.

Pricing for the USN Series SIP power converters is $44 each in singles and $27 each for 10,000 pieces. Production quantities require six to eight weeks.
