Cygnal Integrated Products Inc. (Austin, TX) introduced its new C8051F311 mixed-signal microcontroller (MCU), which is available in a 5mm x 5mm x 0.9mm, 28-pin MLP casing, providing designers with at least 50 percent more board space compared to traditional surface-mount packages, according to the company.

The device features a 25MIPS 8051 CPU, 16KB of Flash and up to 25 I/O pins, as well as a 10-bit, 200KSa/s analog-to-digital converter, temperature sensor, internal oscillator, UART, SMBus and SPI interface, and up to 1.28KB of RAM. The device operates from 2.7V to 3.6V, draws 7mA at 25MHz and 15µA at 32kHz, and is rated for operation over the -40 to +85 degrees C temperature range.
