Commergy Intros Quarter-Brick DC Converter Model

January 05, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Commergy Ltd. (Dublin, Ireland) announced two new ranges of dc/dc converter products for immediate off-the-shelf release covering the quarter-brick and eighth-brick open-frame form factors. Commergy’s quarter-brick converters offers 91 percent efficiency at 3.3V at 50A. The low-voltage unit offers 1.8V at 60A. Commergy’s eighth-brick offers 90 percent efficiency at 3.3V at 25A and 1.8V at 40A.

Commergy offer a "wide-trim" output feature that enables the output to be trimmed over a wide range, allowing the designer to cover all the standard voltage rails at 0.8V, 1.0V, 1.2V, 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V and all voltages in between in just two models per series. All units in the Commergy range are designed to start up into a back bias. The two new series of brick-format, dc/dc products use synchronous rectification, planar magnetics, and a common set of components, vendors and processes to provide economies of scale in manufacturing, materials and vendor management. The wide trim output reduces the number of standard models to two per series to ease logistics and channel management issues.
