Celestica Debuts E-Class Eighth-Brick DC/DC Converters
Celestica Inc. (Toronto, ON) announced the launch of its Eighth-Brick format E-Class isolated DC/DC converters. The new converters feature a width of only 0.8in and are among the smallest 15A to 20A isolated converters on the market, according to the company.
Leading metrics include a power density of 75W/cu-in, 30A/cu-in and up to 90 percent efficiency. The 0.36in profile enables the E-Class Converter to fit into the tightest spaces in a communications system, where board-to-board pitch is trending to 0.5in. Mechanical dimensions are 2.28in x 0.8in x 0.36in, representing approximately half of the footprint of existing quarter-brick converters.
The E-Class Converters in the Eighth-Brick package are available in output models of 3.3V, 2.5V and 1.8V. Celestica expects to extend the voltage models available in the near future. The E-Class Converters work off an input-voltage range of 36Vdc to 75Vdc.
"The E-Class Converters represent an inflection point in the power industry, with Celestica providing industry leadership in this class," said Christopher Stratas, general manager, Celestica Power Systems. "Saving approximately 45 percent in board space while delivering among the highest efficiency and derating levels available on the market provides tremendous value to our customers. Customers are currently sampling the E-Class today and are extremely impressed with this innovative new product class."
Pricing starts at $52 per unit on an annual purchase of 1,000 units.
