C&D Technologies Intros WPA60 DC/DC Converters

New Products Dec 17, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

C&D Technologies Inc. (Tucson, AZ) has increased the number of available variations of its WPA60 dc/dc converter from one to nine. Each of the units from the range delivers two independently regulated outputs that provide full regulation down to zero load. The choice of voltage configurations enables the VDE EN60950 and UL/CUL 60950 safety requirement compliant series to be matched to the latest ASIC and DSP applications requiring the reliable delivery of low operating voltages.

The range of outputs includes 1.0Vdc, 1.2Vdc, 1.5Vdc, 1.8Vdc, 2.2Vdc, 2.5Vdc, 3.3Vdc and 5.0Vdc. Power can be traded between the outputs up to the full 60W rating.

The quarter-brick-sized WPA60 units have a wide input range of 36V to 75V and, as standard, feature input and output filtering. All units in the WPA60 range use a fixed frequency of 350kHz, and operate with an efficiency of approximately 90%. Minimum isolation voltage is rated at 2,000Vdc and maximum ripple and noise is 80mV peak-to-peak. The WPA60 converters have an operating temperature range of –40°C to +100°C, and a MTTF rating of one million hours.

Available now, pricing for units from the WPA60 range is under $55 in OEM quantities.
