C&D Technologies Intros NGA DC/DC Converters

August 15, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

C&D Technologies Inc. (Tucson, AZ) announced its new NGA non-isolated, dc/dc converters, which provide step-down switching functionality at efficiencies in excess of 94 percent. Based on the industry-standard footprint of a 7805 three-pin regulator, the converters save space and reduce power consumption in both new and existing embedded computing applications. In addition, the ability to operate at between -40 and +85 degrees C without derating makes the devices suitable for embedded applications targeted at industrial and other environments.

The new converters are available with output options of 1.8Vdc to 3.3Vdc and 5.0Vdc, and can accommodate a wide input-voltage range of between 4.75V and 28V (at full 2A output current). Built-in functionality includes short-circuit protection and a pin for remote on/off operation. Device dimensions are just 21mm x 21mm x 5mm.

Available now, pricing for the new NGA dc/dc converters is around $10 in OEM quantities.
