September 18, 2007 by Jeff Shepard

Catalyst Semiconductor, Inc. announced an addition to its supervisor product line with three new devices which provide system processor power supply monitoring and reset functions. The new CAT823, CAT824 and CAT825 voltage supervisors are available in a choice of seven standard threshold levels: 4.63, 4.38, 3.08, 2.93, 2.63, 2.32 and 2.19V.

In addition to an active-low reset output included on all three devices, the CAT823 also offers a manual reset and a watchdog input, while the CAT824 provides an additional active-high reset and a watchdog input. The CAT825 features active-low, active-high and manual reset functions.

The CAT823, CAT824 and CAT825 supervisors come in 5-lead TSOT-23 and 5-lead SC-70 packages and are pin-for-pin compatible with MAX823, MAX824 and MAX825 devices. Catalyst offers 2.19 and 2.32V thresholds in both TSOT-23 and SC-70 packages, which the company claims is unique in terms of other vendors.

The CAT823, CAT824 and CAT825 supervisors are priced at $0.48 each in 10,000 piece quantities. Samples of the CAT823 and CAT825 are available now; samples of the CAT824 will be available soon. Projected lead-time for production quantities is currently 6 to 8 weeks ARO.
