Calex Intros HW Family of DC/DC Converters

April 18, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Calex Manufacturing Co. Inc. (Concord, CA) announced the dual-output HW family of dc/dc converters. The series consists of nine models ranging from 5W to 6W of output power in an industry-standard 24-pin DIP. All models are fully self-contained with input and output filtering eliminating the need for external components in all but the most critical applications.

All HW models offer a 2:1 input range and 9Vdc to 18Vdc, 18Vdc to 36Vdc, or 36Vdc to 75Vdc. Outputs are ±5V, ±12V or ±15V. The current on the ±5V outputs is ±500mA. The ±12V and ±15V outputs offer ±250mA and ±200mA, respectively. The converters are isolated input to output and the isolation voltage is 1,544Vdc. The switching frequency of all HW dual models is 400kHz. Efficiencies run as high as 83 percent.

The output noise is low at 1 percent of the output voltage as measured over a 20MHz bandwidth. Cross regulation, initial set-point accuracy and load regulation is ±1 percent. Line regulation is ±0.3 percent. The operating case temperature range for the HW models is -40 to +100 degrees C. The case size is 0.80in x 1.25in x 0.50in.

The units are available from stock at $26.95 per 1,000.
