CALEX Introduces SLC Series of DC/DC Converters

September 05, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

CALEX Mfg. Co. Inc. (Concord, CA)announced the new SLC Series of 1W, single- and dual-output, dc/dc converters. The SLC converters are housed in a compact 0.77in x 0.40in x 0.27in single in-line package. The SLC Series is designed to provide non-standard output voltages and isolation for 5V

digital systems.

The single-output models provide semi-regulated outputs of 5V, 6.5V, 7V, 12V, 14V, 15V, 17V or 24V. The dual-output models provide semi-regulated outputs of ±5V, ±7V, ±12V, ±14V, ±15V or ±17V. The input range for both the single- and dual-output SLC dc/dc converters is ±10 percent. Reflected ripple is typically 65mA peak to peak. Efficiencies run as high as 78 percent. The switching frequency is 165kHz. Input to output isolation is 750Vdc. Output load regulation is four percent for 75 to 100 percent of a full rated load. Line regulation is typically 1.3 percent. Output noise is as low as 30mV peak to peak.

The case operating temperature range of the SLC Series is -25 to +85 degrees C. The storage range for the converters is -40 to +100 degrees C. The thermal impedance of the case is 58 degrees C per watt. The converters are packaged in a non-conductive plastic case and can be water washed after being assembled to the PC board.

Pricing for the SLC converters is $8.75 in 1,000-piece quantities.
