Beta Dyne Unveils New BD16000 DC Converter

September 08, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Beta Dyne Inc. (Bridgewater, MA) unveiled a new 15 W, four-output, low-noise dc-dc converter, the BD16000, which accepts 18 Vin to 36 Vin and provides 3.3 Vout at 1 A, 5 Vout at 1.5 A, 12 Vout at 200 mA, and -5 Vout at 250 mA. The converter features a 2:1 input-voltage range, input-to-output isolation, soft start, an input Pi filter, short-circuit protection, 380 kHz switching frequency, flyback topology, and four low-dropout linear regulators to minimize output noise. The converter can also be synchronized to a system clock with a >390 kHz frequency and a TTL pulse width of 15 nS to 150 nS.

The converter comes packaged in a 2.0 in x 2.0 in x 0.395 in coated metal case that provides six-sided EMI shielding. The standard operating temperature range is from -25 °C to +60 °C. Other input-voltage and output-voltage combinations are available upon request. Input-voltage ranges of 2:1, 3:1, and 4:1 and output voltages from 1.8 V to 18 V with a combined total output power of 15 W are available.

Pricing for the BD16000 starts at $87.70 each, with discounts available for larger quantities. Units are available in four to six weeks ARO.
