Bel Fuse Adds GALW9V647 Quarter-Brick DC-DC Converter
Bel Fuse Inc. (Jersey City, NJ), a manufacturer of power dc-dc converters for telecommunications applications, added a new 450 W single-output, "stretched" quarter-brick, dc-dc converter to its Sirius family of board-mounted CoolConverter™ power modules, the GALW9V647, which measures 1.45 in x 4.25 in x 0.95 in, including a built-in heatsink for improved thermal performance. The GALW9V647 is suitable for demanding telecom, networking, and wireless applications requiring high current, low voltage, and fast transient-response times.
Microprocessor-controlled, the GALW9V647 boasts a proprietary single-stage power supply control, and architecture that uses synchronous rectification to achieve high conversion efficiencies. The converter's constant switching frequency enables low common-mode noise operation, and its circuitry provides low ripple. The GALW9V647 power module has an operating efficiency of 93.5 percent at full load, and 94.5 percent at half load. The converter features a wide input-voltage range from 36 Vdc to 75 Vdc, and a single isolated output of 9.6 Vdc. Output current is rated up to 47 A, while line and load regulation is ±0.2 percent and ±2 percent, respectively. Setpoint accuracy is ±5 percent.
Offering full protection features, the GALW9V647 provides under-voltage lockout with hysteresis to prevent false starting and stopping at low input voltages, and over-temperature, over-current, and over-voltage protection. The THT module also boasts output-voltage trim adjustment, a two-stage input filter, and primary-side on/off. It operates over a wide, ambient temperature range of -40 °C to +100 °C, and carries a full set of international safety approvals, including EN60950 and UL/cUL60950.
Pricing for the GALW9V647 dc-dc converter starts at $150.00 each in quantities of 1,000 units. While delivery is eight weeks, samples are immediately available.
