Baldor Unveils NextMove-ES Motion Controller

New Products Sep 24, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Baldor Electric Co. (Fort Smith, AR) released a new single-Eurocard motion controller for servo and stepper motors for industrial and harsh environments, the NextMove-ES, which is suitable for high-speed printing, packaging, labeling and machine tool applications, as well as common automation needs, including robotics, rotary knives and positioning stages.

The NextMove-ES uses the Mint motion language and is capable of controlling two servo and four stepper axes, or six servo axes if used with Baldor drives. The module includes onboard I/O and field-bus

connectivity with a license-free, multi-tasking, operating system that provides an economic platform for automation equipment. The module also delivers real-time performance; supports servo-loop closure times of 200 microseconds with six-term, closed-loop control; and delivers velocity feedback, feed forward and acceleration feed forward.
