AVX Offer New P1/P2 Series Ferrite Materials

February 04, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

AVX Corp. (Myrtle Beach, SC) announced the development of advanced ferrite materials, the P1 and P2 Series, which are available in a wide range of core shapes and sizes for use in high-power system functions, including battery chargers, industrial induction heating, uninterruptible power supplies and welding equipment.

The P1 and P2 materials are specifically designed for applications requiring low power loss in the frequency range of 25kHz to 200kHz, and are optimized for operating at temperatures between 80°C to 100°C. The P1 material provides power loss as low as 65mW/cm³ at 25kHz/200mT/100°C, which represents a 40 percent reduction in power loss versus the current B2 material. The P2 material provides power loss as low as 40mW/cm³ at 25kHz/200mT/100°C and 45mW/cm³ at 100kHz/100mT/100°C between 200kHz and 1.5MHz, representing loss that is 40 percent lower than P1 material.

Pricing for the P1 and P2 Series in large core sizes starts at $0.90 each in OEM quantities with immediate availability.
