AVX Introduces PPS CF Series Capacitors

October 02, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

AVX Corp. (Myrtle Beach, SC) announced the new PPS CF Series of chip capacitors in 1206 and 1210 case sizes. Ideal for use in low-voltage applications, the capacitors feature low dielectric absorption, superior thermal shock resistance and capacitance values constant over a wide temperature range. The capacitors are compatible with both flow and reflow soldering techniques and offer low ESR and ESL values.

"AVX’s PPS CF Series capacitors feature extremely low dissipation and have no piezoelectric effect," said Vaughn Viles, AVX product manager. "The intrinsic elasticity of the dielectric film used makes these devices compatible with all types of materials for printed circuit boards."

Applications include use in automotive navigation systems, industrial lighting and power supplies as well as in telecom applications such as GSM PLL circuits and ADSL systems.

The PPS CF Series capacitors are available in 1206 and 1210 case sizes, with 1812 in development. These devices feature capacitance values from 1nF to 100nF with tolerances to ±2 percent. The rated voltage ranges from 16Vdc to 50Vdc, with operating temperatures ranging from -55 to 125 degrees C.

Pricing for the PPS CF Series capacitors is $0.10 each in OEM quantities, with lead times from stock to 12 weeks.
