Arques Technology Intros AQ9130/AQ9140 Current Regulators

November 08, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Arques Technology (Austin, TX) introduced its new AQ9130 and AQ9140 dual-gain 1X - 1.5X charge pump current regulators, which are suitable for white LED backlighting for small LCD displays or photo-flash applications. The current regulators are capable of driving up to three (AQ9130) or four (AQ9140) parallel white LEDs, with up to 120 mA total of programmable output current. Each LED's driver current is matched to within 2% for uniform intensity.

They operate over the typical lithium-ion input-voltage range of 2.7 V to 6.0 V, with under-voltage lockout. The AQ9130 and AQ9140 feature inductor-less, 1.5X charge-pump circuits that use only a few ceramic capacitors, allowing a compact, low-profile design. They feature a fixed 650 kHz frequency. In full shutdown mode, they draw only 10 µA.

The AQ9130 and AQ9140 are available in a small MLP-16 package, and also come in optional green (halogen-free, lead-free) packaging, priced at $0.89 for 1,000-unit quantities.
