APT Intros APT15DS60B and APT30DS60B Higher Frequency FREDs

June 06, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Advanced Power Technology (APT, Bend, OR) announced a new family of Higher Frequency Fast Recovery Epitaxial Diodes (FREDs) in a TO-247 package. The new FREDs, designated APT15DS60B and APT30DS60B, are capable of replacing GaAs rectifiers in high frequency applications up to 2MHz, at a fraction of the cost, according to APT. The 15A device has a typical reverse recovery time of 25 nsec at a forward current of 15A, a junction temperature of 100 degrees C and a maximum forward voltage of 4.0V. The 30A device has a typical reverse recovery time of 35nsec at a forward current of 30A, a junction temperature of 100 degrees C and a maximum forward voltage of 4.0V. Applications include power factor correction circuits (PFC), switch-mode power supplies, inverters, motor controllers, converters, uninterruptible power supplies, induction heating and high speed rectifiers. Evaluation samples are available and volume pricing ranges from $4.61 to $6.49 in quantities of 1,000.
