APC Debuts APC-HO31 Series DC/DC Converters

New Products Nov 25, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Advanced Power Conversion plc (APC, Farnborough, England) introduced a new encapsulated half-brick module to its dc/dc converter range. The APC-H031 Series can deliver up to 30W of power with a typical full-load efficiency of up to 87 percent.

Outputs of 5.0V, 3.3V, 2.5V, 1.7V and 1.5V are available and are fully isolated allowing versatile polarity configuration and grounding connections. The low-profile, industry-standard, half-brick size (61.0mm x 57.9mm x 12.7mm) metal case converter is designed for a wide input range of 36V to 75V, and a standard operating temperature range of -40 to +110 degrees C. Employing a fixed-frequency operation of 250kHz, the module has 1,500V isolation and low output noise, making the unit suitable for telecom and other noise-sensitive applications.

A comprehensive range of control and protection features include voltage trim adjustable from 80 to 110 percent of nominal output, remote sense, over-current protection and output over-voltage clamp. The remote on/off control option is available with either positive or negative logic. The APC-H031 converters have a calculated MTBF of 3.5Mhr, and a short-pin version (2.79mm) is also available.
