AnalogicTech Adds Two 600mA Step-Down Converters
Advanced Analogic Technologies Inc. (AnalogicTech) has made two additions to its rapidly growing family of step-down voltage regulators. By delivering up to 600mA of output current and a fast 100µs turn-on time with up to 97% efficiency, the AAT2506 and AAT2511 extend AnalogicTech's line of dc-dc step-down converters to a wider range of chipsets in cell phones, MP3 players, and other popular portable electronic devices.
The AAT2506 combines a 600mA step-down converter with a 300mA low-dropout linear regulator (LDO), while the AAT2511 integrates two 600mA step-down converters.
"The continual push to integrate complex new features and functions in each successive product generation has driven portable system designers to demand higher current levels and more stringent performance requirements," said David Brown, Senior Manager of Applications Engineering for AnalogicTech. "The high current capability, rapid turn-on time, and high level of integration offered by the AAT2506 and AAT2511 will help designers meet these rising performance requirements while reducing footprint and component count."
The step-down dc-dc converter in the AAT2506 delivers 600mA while maintaining 97% efficiency. It also features a low 25µA no load quiescent current. A 1MHz switching frequency minimizes the size of external components and reduces switching losses. The device's LDO operates off an independent input and offers fast transient response and excellent power supply rejection ratio.
The two step-down converters in the AAT2511 also maximize efficiency at light load with a low 25µA quiescent current on each channel. As with the AAT2506, a 1MHz switching frequency minimizes external component count and size. Output voltage ranges from 0.6V to the maximum applied input voltage. It can be either fixed or externally adjustable.
Both the AAT2506 and the AAT2511 are immediately available in Pb-free, 12-pin TDFN33 packages. The AAT2506 and AAT2511 sell for $1.05 and $1.42, respectively, in 1000-piece quantities. Both devices are rated over the -40°C to +85° C temperature range.
