Alfalight Intros CPM-20 20W Laser Module

January 18, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Alfalight Inc. (Madison, WI), a manufacturer of diode lasers, announced that it has expanded its portfolio of fiber-coupled laser products with its 20W Combined Power Module (CPM-20). The CPM-20 produces a high-brightness, multi-mode output beam by combining the output of seven individual high-power emitters. The compact, easy-to-integrate package operates from a standard, low-current power supply. The modular CPM-20 provides a bright, reliable optical power source that is suitable for industrial, marking, defense, telecommunications and medical laser applications.

The CPM-20 provides over 20W of fiber-coupled, 915nm light with brightness and beam uniformity; the output fiber has a 125 micron core with a 0.45 numerical aperture. The package incorporates the laser sources, fiber combiner and protection circuitry, and mounts easily to a system heatsink or chassis. The unit requires a current of 5A at 15V, easing power supply selection and hook-up wiring.

The CPM-20 (part number ALC1-915) is currently offered at a wavelength of 915nm for $5,000 in one- to five-piece quantities; wavelengths of 808nm, 955nm and 976nm are available upon request. The CPM-20 will be available to ship in volume quantities at the end of first-quarter 2004.
