Alcatel Launches AM 50 SI Series DC/DC Converters

August 26, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Alcatel Converters (Lannion, France) announced the launch of its new 50W, industry-standard, half-brick converters, the AM 50 SI Series, which are available in both open-frame and cased versions. The power modules use patented Alcatel topology with self-synchronous rectification, and are suitable for telecom and industrial low-voltage needs as well as distributed power architectures.

The single-output, dc/dc converters feature an input range of 36Vdc to 75Vdc; a weight of 40g; an industry-standard pin-out and voltage accuracy of one percent; an efficiency of 92 percent at 12V output; a supply of 50W at 85 degrees C in all output voltages; output voltages of 12V, 5V, 3.3V and 2V; a 48V nominal input; dimensions of 2.4in x 2.3in x 0.39in (61mm x 59mm x 10mm); a remote on/off feature with a positive or negative logic input option; and an output-voltage adjust.

The AM 50 SI Series is UL 60950, third-edition recognized and fully compliant with EN 60950. The use of external filters enable the power modules to meet EN 55022 Class A and Class B for conduction and radiation noise emissions, respectively. In 10,000-unit quantities, pricing starts at $43.
