Alcatel Debuts AH 200 Si Series DC/DC Converters

March 19, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Alcatel Converters (Lannion, France) launched a new series of 200W converters that are suitable for power-hungry applications such as telecom, computing and distributed power architectures. With a wide output-voltage range of 5V to 1.2V, the new AH 200 Si Series delivers a fully rated 60A at 3.3V, 2.5V, 1.8V, 1.5V and 1.2V. For 5V applications, the converter delivers 40A.

The AH 200 SI Series comes in the industry-standard, half-brick format with a profile of 0.5in, suitable for fitting into densely packed electronic systems. The pin-through-hole design is also industry standard. The converters have a high reliability, open-frame, surface-mount design, including a baseplate to improve thermal management. The converters operate over the full temperature range of -40°C to +115°C and provide an average 90 percent efficiency.

The AH 200 SI Series draws power from a 48V nominal input and features as standard an overload protection in the event of a short-circuit or system overload. Many options are available, including remote positive or negative on/off, output voltage adjust (trim) and load sharing. The converters are manufactured in ISO certified facilities.

In large quantities, pricing for the AH 200 SI Series is $100.
