AeroComm Unveils AC4790 Peer-to-Peer Transceivers

New Products Apr 10, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Aerocomm Inc. (Lenexa, KS) unveiled its new AC4790 transceivers, which remove the server from an RF communications system, facilitating fully expandable mesh networking. The wireless solution complements AeroComm’s server-client-based AC4490 transceivers, giving any OEM the flexibility to choose the protocol that best suits the application. The AC4790 is suitabel for industrial applications, including automatic meter reading, industrial automation, vending control and utility monitoring.

By utilizing a dynamic addressing scheme, the AC4790 protocol supports independent communication between any two in-range transceivers in an RF network. Each transceiver "node" knows exactly which other nodes are within talking distance, as well as the signal strength of each one. The OEM is able to design routing sequences that optimize the network without bogging down system performance.

Developer Tools for the AC4790 are available from AeroComm, and distributors worldwide, for $199. Quantity pricing for 1,000-piece units starts at $39 for 200 mW devices.
