Absopulse Unveils FTT3000 Frequency Converter
Absopulse Electronics Ltd. (Carp, Ontario) announced the new FTT3000 frequency converter, which delivers 3,000VA three-phase sinewave power from a three-phase input. The unit is suitable for developing and testing equipment for use in systems requiring frequencies different from those of available power sources, typically in aeronautic, marine and industrial applications.
The standard FTT3000 unit provides three-phase outputs of 115Vrms at 60Hz to 400Hz, or 230Vrms at 50Hz, from 208Vac or 380Vac three-phase (47Hz to 420Hz) inputs. The output phases are floating and isolated from each other, and can be connected in a "Y" configuration or used separately. The input phases can be wired for a single-phase input if required. The sinusoidal waveform has less than five percent total harmonic distortion at full load.
The FTT3000 can be shut down electronically via a control switch on the front panel of the unit, and a remote shut-down feature is also available. The unit is fan-cooled and rated for operation over 0°C to 50°C, with optional extended temperature ranges depending on customer requirements. It is housed in a 6U x 19in x 15in case, and weighs 21.8kg.
The FTT3000 is highly filtered on the input and output, meeting the requirements for EN55022 Class B emissions. It is designed to meet international safety approvals, including IEC950, CSA22-2-950 and UL 1950. Protection includes current-limiting, short-circuit protection and thermal shutdown with automatic recovery in case of insufficient airflow. The FTT3000 is priced at $3,876.
