Absopulse Adds DC-DC Converter That Delivers 120W

June 20, 2007 by Jeff Shepard

Absopulse Electronics announced its DIO 122 – a dual output, high voltage isolated dc-dc converter developed for high power gate drivers and similar applications in oil and gas, mining, medical, railway and industrial environments.

The DIO 122 is corona (partial discharge) free at 12kVrms (minimum) and each unit is Hi-POT tested for 20kVrms isolation. The typical operating voltage potential between primary and secondary is 6.5 – 10kVrms, with the same isolation provided between the outputs. Both outputs are highly regulated and have individual current limiting and short circuit protection. Isolation design features include encapsulating the output regulators in two separate insulation chambers, and the use of transformers engineered with Absopulse’s field-proven proprietary technology. Creepage distances are more than 75mm.

This 120W converter provides 20Vdc at 3A from each output, with a higher number of outputs available on custom versions. It accepts a 48Vdc input (44 to 56Vdc range). The DIO 122 is filtered to meet EN55022 Class A EMI as a minimum. It is convection cooled and rated for operation over 0 to 50°C without de-rating. The open-frame package measures 4" x 12" x 2.75" and weighs 2.4 lbs.

The DIO 122 dual-output basic version is priced at US$327 for quantities of 100.
