3-Watt Isolated Industrial DC-DCs in DIP-8 Package

Artesyn Embedded Technologies today announced a new series of 3-Watt dc-dc converters, targeting a diverse range of low power applications, including data and telecommunication, instrumentation, computer peripheral equipment, industrial automation and mobile battery-powered systems. The new Artesyn AYA series of isolated dc-dc converters comprises 28 variants, each of which is available in a mini dual-in-line package with through-hole mounting terminations.

The AYA series converters feature four 2:1 input range variants: seven of the models have 4.5- to 10-Vdc input; seven have 9- to 18-Vdc inputs; seven have 18- to 36-Vdc inputs; and seven have 36- to 75-Vdc inputs. Within each of these input categories, there is a choice of four single output models, offering voltages of 3.3V (3-V units are rated for 2W of output power), 5V, 12V and 15V, and three dual output models offering ±5V, ±12V or ±15V.

Fully encapsulated in a 0.55 x 0.55 inch (14 x 14 mm) plastic case, the converters have a height of 0.32 inch (8 mm). They can accommodate an ambient operating temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius with suitable derating.

Offering up to 87 percent conversion efficiency, the converters use 100kHz fixed-frequency switching to minimize the need for external EMI filtering and comply with the EN 55022 class A and FCC level A standards for conducted noise. Standard features include 1,500Vdc input/output isolation, remote On/Off and continuous (hiccup mode) protection against output short-circuit.
