3-Watt DC-DC converters offer Greater Protection and Soft Start

Aimtec, Inc. announces a new AM3TI-RZ and AM3TIW-RZ series 3-W dc-dc converters. These converters are feature-rich, with continuous short circuit protection, over load protection (OLP), under voltage lock out, and soft start. It also has internal filter circuitry suitable for EMI which meets EN55022 Class A. Offered in single- or dual-output models, and input ranges of wide 2:1 (9-18, 18-36, 36-75Vdc) or ultra-wide 4:1 (9-36, 18-75Vdc) by series, in DIP24 package and isolation ranges of 1500- or 3000-Vdc.

Standard output voltages range from 3.3Vdc to 24Vdc for single-output units and +/-3.3- to +/-24-Vdc for dual-output units with a maximum input voltage of 18Vdc or from +/-3.3-Vdc to +/-12-Vdc for dual-output units with a maximum input voltage of 36Vdc. This new series is developed for control and measurement systems where high precision and stability is paramount.

These dc-dc converters are specified for operation from -40 to +85 degrees C. They deliver full-power up to 70 degrees C and derate linearly to 50% power at 85 degrees C. Operating efficiencies range from 73% to 81%, depending on the model. The internal EMC filter meets EN55022 Class A. These converters have no minimum load requirement and have a typical switching frequency of 330kHz at full load.
