The US-China Green Energy Council will be presenting its "US-China Green Energy Conference ’08 – Innovative Energy Solutions: Fueling the Future." from November 16-18 in Beijing. This conference is said to present for the first time an opportunity for leaders in four communities – business, technology, academia, and government policy – from both China and the United States to come together to discuss energy issues of mutual interest. There will be a mix of formal presentations panel discussions and informal discussion opportunities.

Conference organizers expect more than 50 experts from the US and an equal number from China to participate as panelists and keynote speakers over a two-day conference. To accommodate this diversity of participants, there will be three parallel tracks when there is no plenary session. There is an anticipation of an attendance of 500 by invitation only, including: Chinese central and provincial government officials responsible for energy and environmental policies; scholars, technologists, opinion leaders, educators, and business executives and global investors from California and China involved in energy and greentech.

Organizers state that the conference will lead to the creation of working groups, with participants from interested stakeholders. These working groups will promote dialogue and develop meaningful projects in business, energy policy, R&D, and education. The conference will address three broad topics: innovative energy technologies, energy efficiency, and models for US/China business ventures.
