TDI System Awarded NEBS Level 3 Certification

February 09, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Transistor Devices Inc. (TDI, Hackettstown, NJ) announced that its 208Vac input Gemini Series power system has recently been awarded NEBS Level 3 certification through MET Laboratories. The NEBS certification allows TDI to further meet customer’s critical demands. The extensive NEBS testing for the Gemini Power System included EMI/EMC, temperature, humidity, altitude, fire, earthquake, vibration, lightning surge and power fault. The certifications issued by MET Laboratories conforms to Bellcore NEBS requirements GR-63-CORE, GR-1089-CORE and GR-78-CORE.

The 208Vac input Gemini dc power system is rated for up to 10,000A. The design is suitable for many high current –48V telecommunications applications. The power bays feature hot-bus plug-in, switch-mode, modular rectifiers with –48Vdc output rated at 100A with power-factor correction. Each power bay can be configured for seven rectifier shelves and 1 to 21 rectifiers. Additional power bays and power distribution bays can be added via hot-bus at anytime to create between 2,000A and 10,000A power systems. Each power and distribution bay has a footprint of only 20in x 20in.

The list price for system components is $2,550 for the -48Vdc/100A rectifier module, $12,610 for the power bay, and $11,145 for the power distribution bay. Quantity discounts are available for all system components.
