S&C Electric Co. (Chicago, IL) announced that it has been selected by a regional medical center in North Carolina to enhance power quality for the MRI machine in its facility. S&C's PureWave UPS System provided a viable solution since it can be installed outdoors. A 313kVA/250kW unit was delivered in January 2003, completely factory-assembled and tested. The PureWave UPS system is expected to save over $500,000 per year in repair costs.
S&C's PureWave UPS System is available in ratings up to 20MVA and offers 30sec of protection at 100% load, thus handling practically all disturbances. The system features a reliable off-line design that increases battery life and reduces maintenance.
