Nexperia’s Power Live Conference Begins This Week

September 19, 2021 by Stephanie Leonida

Nexperia announces the commencement of its virtual, power electronics-focused Power Live conference.

A leading manufacturer and supplier of semiconductors and electronic components, Nexperia, recently announced its second annual virtual conference. The power electronics-focused Nexperia Power Live conference will build upon an inaugural event held last year and span three days (21st-23rd September). The line-up of technologies to be explored during the event include gallium nitride (GaN) devices, metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs), power diodes, and bipolar transistors for automotive and industrial applications.

The Digital Era

The digital era has arrived with more and more people relying on digital technologies to mobilize everyday life. Such technologies include artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), blockchain, drones, the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, 3D printing, virtual reality (VR), and much more. In a world where digital devices have become second nature, power demands have been steadily increasing.

Power electronics is a branch of electrical engineering that focuses on the application of solid-state electronics to the transformation and management of electrical power. The invention of AC power in 1887 has been a boon for society. The devices that we use every day are powered by this type of electricity. In addition, it has become much more efficient than DC power because it carries fewer losses over long distances when transmitting the energy from one place to another.

To reduce global emissions, companies across the globe are pushing to make energy sources cleaner and renewable. The implementation of innovations in power electronics is crucial in making this happen faster.

What to Expect?

Conference attendees will be able to gain insights into the latest power electronics technology through live presentations, access product demonstrations from Nexperia’s global labs, and engage in technical discussions with Nexperia’s partners. Videos taken during the event will be available on-demand and live interactive sessions with engineers and guests can be accessed.

In a recent news release, the Global Head of Marketing at Nexperia, Robby Ferninandus said, “The feedback we got from our first event last year was excellent. More than 700 engineers registered to attend, and many said they found it especially invaluable to be able to engage with other like-minded people in the live sessions to discuss common design challenges.”

The upcoming Power Live event will include session highlights covering the design of power MOSFETs in industrial applications, how to choose the most suitable power diode for optimizing efficiency and reliability in automotive applications like LED driver or solenoid drive, and a preview of Nexperia’s new electrothermal MOSFET models. Attendees will also be able to access a panel discussion with both Nexperia and industry experts. This open forum is for the discussion of GaN technology and the market in which attendees are welcome to take part in.
