Konarka Expands Worldwide Presence with Senior Management in Asia

Konarka Technologies, Inc. announced the addition of key management personnel to be based in Asia. Dr. John Gui has been appointed vice president, business development, Asia, and Dr. Timothy Wang has been appointed director, corporate partnering, Asia.

Konarka chairman and CEO Howard Berke commented, "The addition of these individuals is in accordance with our goals to expand our direct presence in Asia. Konarka is committed to the Asian market, and Dr. Gui and Dr. Wang will help us to further our partnership-based scale-up and supply chain strategy in this important region for the photovoltaic industry."

Born in China, Dr. Gui comes to Konarka from the Corporate R&D Center at General Electric Company where he served 15 years in various roles, including heading the organic photovoltaic R&D program, with a focus on business development throughout Asia with an emphasis on China. Dr. Gui holds a PhD in Electrochemistry from Ohio State University as well as 23 technology patents.

Dr. Wang joins Konarka from Kenly Precision Industrial Co Ltd, one of the largest metal stamping and tooling companies in Taiwan, where he led a 74-member team of the Optoelectronics Business Unit. He also served the company as marketing director responsible for identifying business opportunities in the LED components and display industry. Dr. Wang holds a PhD in Polymer Chemistry from the University of Missouri-Rolla, Rolla, MO.
