IMPCO Technologies Awarded Patent for In-Tank Fuel Pressure Regulator Technology

April 25, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

IMPCO Technologies'(Irvine, CA) Advanced Technology Center has been awarded a patent for its new and innovative In-Tank Fuel Pressure Regulator Technology for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and natural gas vehicles.

The In-Tank Regulator utilizes the company's TriShield ultra-lightweight, advanced composite, fuel-storage tanks for a significant reduction in fuel-system cost while at the same time increasing vehicle safety.

IMPCO's Advanced Technology Center has also been awarded QS 9000 certification for its commitment to quality products and services. This globally recognized award was received after endorsement by one Registrar (TUV) and two National Accreditation Bodies (RAB and DAR), which belong to the International Accreditation Forum and the European Accreditation Forum.

The IMPCO design on the In-Tank Regulator minimizes fuel-system operating pressure, but can reduce overall cost through the integration of key system functions. IMPCO plans to offer two models of the In-Tank Regulator designs: The H2R 5000 for fuel cell vehicles and the NGR 3600 for natural gas vehicles.
