June 10, 2007 by Jeff Shepard

GE Energy unveiled its new wireless meter for the Brilliance™ residential solar energy system. The new solar meter allows consumers to view real-time, daily, monthly and yearly power and energy data at the touch of a button. In addition, the unit’s 900 MHz wireless communication is said to allow more flexibility in placement within the home, reduce installation costs, and allow for quick installation.

GE Energy’s new solar energy system meter package is claimed to include everything needed to measure and compare a home’s consumption and solar array production. The system monitors up to two inverters.

Designed for residential applications, GE’s all-inclusive Brilliance solar electric packages are offered in sizes from 1 to 10kW (1,000 to 10,000W). The Brilliance system features GE’s 66W power roof-integrated solar modules, or the high-power 200W GE solar modules, for new home construction or retrofit applications.
