June 07, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Electrovaya Inc. (Toronto, ON), a leader in portable power based on its lithium-ion Superpolymer® battery technology, announces the receipt of the "Technology Award" and the "Battery Electric Vehicle Award" at the Tour de Sol. Electrovaya's lithium-ion SuperPolymer® battery technology won the Technology Award, and Electrovaya's Maya 100 won the Battery Electric Vehicle Award.

"As part of the extensive road testing for the prototype Maya 100, the Tour de Sol is a great venue. The Maya 100 is an experimental vehicle, where we test our concepts of batteries, chargers, controls, and different motors and electronics in order to develop a robust zero-emission vehicle technology capable of meeting a 300 km plus range target and a 150,000 km operational target. The Tour de Sol rally is a great place to test our concepts and to collect relevant data. While our aim was not to acquire rally points, we are delighted and honored to receive the the Technology Award and also the Battery Electric Award," said Sankar Das Gupta, CEO of Electrovaya.
