DC Building Power Japan Conference Program Announced
The program has been announced for the First Annual DC Building Power Japan conference (DCBPJ ’09) to be held December 7 & 8 in Tokyo, Japan. Sessions will include "Data Center DC Applications," "Home Use of DC Power Systems," "DC Power Micro-Grids and Smart Grids" and "DC Distribution Technologies: Prospects and Challenges." The Keynote address will be presented by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). This focused two-day international conference will attract an international audience to discuss high-voltage and low-voltage dc distribution in facilities such as data centers, commercial and industrial buildings and residences.
"The call for papers for Darnell’s DC Building Power Japan conference received an even stronger response than anticipated. We have had to extend the program on both days. This will be an exciting, international event," stated Jeff Shepard, President of Darnell Group. "The use of dc distribution can complement other trends in building power including the growth of ’green’ energy sources, use of wireless building automation systems, demand side management, the implementation of high efficiency lighting, and more. And it can reduce construction and operating costs, improve flexibility and enhance sustainability. This will be a unique international meeting in Tokyo with English as the official conference language and simultaneous translation services."
Among the international roster of speakers will be representatives from NTT Facilities, Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), Sharp, Panasonic Electric, Emerson Network Power, Nextek Power Systems, Takenaka Corp., Intel, Fujitsu Components, Tottori Gas Co., and Anderson Power Products.
In addition, several important universities and research programs will be represented including the Elegant Power Application Research Center (EPARC) from the National Chung Cheng University, Aichi University of Technology, Osaka University and Nagoya University.
DC Building Power Japan ’09 will consider all aspects of building power including high-voltage and low-voltage dc distribution, hybrid ac and dc distribution architectures, and dc microgrids. Examples of the topics to be addressed at DCBPJ ’09 include: Selection of the optimal dc distribution voltage; Integration of distributed generation resources; DC lighting systems; DC HVAC and other building systems; DC appliances; Building automation and controls; DC microgrids; Combined heat and power; Advanced components and hardware; Safety considerations; Standardization issues; Hybrid ac and dc power distribution architectures; Implementation of demand-side management; Implications for power quality; and more.
In addition to the extensive technical content, delegates will enjoy extended networking opportunities including a hosted lunch in the Exhibit Hall as well as a Welcome Reception, also in the Exhibit Hall.
DCBPJ ’09 will offer delegates an optional tour of an operating DC-Powered Data Center. The first ever joint meeting of the EPRI DC Power Partners group and the Japan DC-Power Industrial Partners group will be hosted during DCBPJ ’09.
DC Building Power Japan is a sister-event with Darnell’s Green Building Power Forum (GBPF). The Second-Annual GBPF will be hosted January 25-27, 2010, in Anaheim, California, USA. The GBPF website is here .
