Apple Files Patent Infringement Suit Against Media Solutions Holdings

November 30, 2009 by Jeff Shepard

Apple Inc. has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Media Solutions Holdings, a company based in Anaheim, California, which Apple says sells "knock-off" Apple accessories at retail via several Web sites.

Apple states that Media Solutions Holdings, through assorted Web sites (laptopsforless.com, laptopacadapter.com, and ereplacements.com), sells "various consumer electronic accessories at retail, including knock-off power adapters for use with genuine Apple portable computers."

Apple claims that some of the power adapters sold through these Web sites violate its "Power adapter" patent, issued in August, 2003. The Apple patent covers the design of its adapters and the lawsuit provides a side-by-side comparison of authorized and the allegedly infringing power adapters.
