Alpha & Omega Selects DongbuAnam for Power FETs

January 11, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

DongbuAnam Semiconductor today announced that its foundry has formed alliance with Alpha & Omega Semiconductor (AOS) to provide power MOSFET devices in the Korean market.

"We see Korea as an innovation center and a significant market for computers, mobile handsets, portable electronics, LCD TVs and PDP TVs, and we are pleased to partner with DongbuAnam to deliver our cutting edge products to this important growing market, targeting major OEMs in Korea such as Samsung and LG," remarked Mr. James Lee, VP of Sales and Marketing of AOS. DongbuAnam will deploy a specialized process that is based on AOS' 0.35-micron process and trench technology for implementing power devices that operate at 10 or more volts. DongbuAnam plans to gradually ramp volume production from the third quarter of this year.

"We are pleased to add AOS to our expanding base of customers," said Jae Song, EVP of Strategic Business Development for DongbuAnam. "We look forward to supporting AOS with superb wafer processing along with a wide range of services including turnkey solutions and module development."

By serving customers such as AOS that require specialized processing, DongbuAnam aims to establish a more stable profit structure within the fast-changing semiconductor market. DongbuAnam's specialized processes today support CIS (CMOS Image Sensor), RF CMOS and Embedded Flash production as well as chip solutions for LDI (LCD Driver IC), OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode), Automotive electronics, digital audio amplifiers, Motor controllers/drivers, and both ac-dc and dc-dc converters.
