January 07, 2009 by Jeff Shepard

ReVolt Technology, Ltd. a technology company, which has developed a rechargeable zinc-air battery, announced that Adam Laubach has joined the company as its Chief Technology Officer. Laubach will take over the overarching technology and product development responsibilities from founder, Dr. Trygve Burchardt, who has recently been promoted to Chief Scientific Officer and will focus on the further development and continued expansion of ReVolt’s core technology footprint.

Adam Laubach is a "lab to fab" specialist, with 9 technical product launch engagements to date, ranging from new polymers to electrochemical cells. His 13 year career with Dow Chemical gave him experience in R&D, new business development and market management across the microelectronics, automotive, packaging and durable goods industries. During his last 3 years with Dow, he worked in the Advanced Electronics Materials business and co-led a JV with Motorola and Xerox focused on printed electronics.

In 2004 he co-founded a Dow Chemical spin-out and secured venture capital funding for Aveso Displays, a printed electrochromic display company. While at Aveso, Adam served as managing director for Europe and later as the parent company CTO. He led the company through a technology baseline establishment and rapid supply chain formation, which is yielding commercial grade product today.

In his most recent role with GSI Technologies, he served as GM for the Functional Printing Division and Company CTO. During his tenure, he led the implementation of process control and manufacturing practices, earning industry accolades including the IDTechEx award for "Best Printed Electronics Commercialization" for scaling to > 1 Billion electrochemical biomedical sensors per year. Additionally, the MIT Enterprise Forum awarded GSI the "Under the Radar" Award for the innovative "Lab to Fab™" business model implementation.

"I am pleased to have the opportunity to join ReVolt Technology and help bring its game changing rechargeable Zinc-Air technology to full commercialization. It is exciting to be part of a truly international team of experts focused on meeting the needs of the world’s ever growing demand for clean reusable energy storage," stated Laubach.
