XPiQ Unveils JPS250 Series AC/DC Switching Supplies

November 10, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

XPiQ Inc. (Holliston MA) introduced a new line of low-cost, medium-power, high-density, ac/dc power supplies with a 1U profile. The new JPS250 Series is suitable for a wide variety of applications, including network, telecom and industrial systems where a low 1U profile, high density and power-factor correction are required. The supplies provide up to 250W in a compact package that measures 7.4in x 4.2in x 1.5in. Full power is available up to 50 degrees C with only 18 CFM airflow needed for 250W.

The supply will operate at up to 70 degrees C with derating, or deliver up to 200W with convection cooling. Active power-factor correction delivers a power factor of more than 0.99. Zero-voltage switching technology allows for efficiencies of greater than 80 percent. Five single-output models are available in the JPS250 Series. Output-voltage selections include 5Vdc, 12Vdc, 15Vdc, 24Vdc and 48Vdc plus an auxiliary 12V/300mA fan output. True universal input accepts input voltages of 90Vac to 264Vac (47Hz to 63Hz) or 170Vdc to 370Vdc.

The supplies offer zero minimum load; over-voltage, over-current and over-temperature protection; remote sense; low output ripple; and tight line and load regulation. Single-wire current sharing is available as an optional feature. Input to output isolation is greater than 3,000Vac for safety agency requirements. The supply meets the EN61000-3-2 standard for input-current harmonics, carries the CE mark for LVD, and holds worldwide safety agency approvals from UL, cUL and TÜV and conducted EMI limits per EN55022 and FCC level B.

Pricing for 1,000 pieces of the JPS250 Series begins at $116. Prototype quantities are available from stock and standard production lead time is eight weeks.
