XPiQ Announces JTA Family of DC-DC Converters

March 01, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

XPiQ Inc. (Holliston, MA), a worldwide manufacturer and supplier of ac-dc and dc-dc power supply products, announced a new family of rugged, low-cost, dc-dc converters that meet the harsh demands of industrial applications. The JTA family of wide-input; 10 W, 15 W and 20 W converters are a re-design of industry-standard modules that now utilize the latest component and manufacturing technologies to bring down costs while maintaining a mean time between failures of over one million hours (MIL-HDBK-217F).

The JTA family features an extended operating temperature range of -40 °C to +100 °C with full load available at up to +70 °C. The JTA power supplies have ultra-wide input voltages of 9 Vdc to 36 Vdc or 18 Vdc to 75 Vdc, and offer single or dual outputs in the 3.3 Vdc to 15 Vdc range. The wide-input capability makes the converters suitable for systems that have dual-voltage inputs. The converters are fully featured -- the 15 W and 20 W versions have remote on/off and a 10% voltage-trim facility -- and all units have integral over-voltage and over-current protection.

The JTA converters have 1,500 Vdc input-to-output isolation with an isolation resistance of 1,000 MΩ. They utilize a 300 kHz typical operating frequency to achieve efficiency up to 83% and have industry-standard pin-outs. All units are approved to UL60950.

The JTA family is available now. Pricing is from $23 to $43 each for 1,000-unit quantities, depending on power rating and number of outputs.
